The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho Falls Regional Airport continues to see record-setting numbers of passengers boarding flights.

As Idaho’s second busiest airport, 2024 saw 307,942 passengers depart, with an additional 302,699 flying into the facility for a total of 610,641 passengers for the year. This represents an increase in passenger traffic of 11.9% over calendar year 2023 and 73.2% more passengers taking flights than in 2019.

“We can attribute this growth to a number of factors, including the airport’s commitment to providing excellent service, expanding flight options and improving infrastructure to meet the needs of travelers and airlines alike,” said Idaho Falls Regional Airport Director Ian Turner. “The more people choose to fly IDA, the more the airlines notice. This leads to more service, more flight options, and more competitive airfares.”

Over the past year, Delta Air Lines added larger mainline aircraft to address high demand in East Idaho. Alaska added a second daily flight to Seattle and Allegiant announced that service to Portland International Airport will be offered year-round. Additionally, Allegiant will begin year-round, twice weekly, service to Denver International Airport in May of 2025.

IDA currently is served by five airlines offering direct flights to 9 cities on 10 routes. These cities include Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles/Orange County, Oakland, Phoenix, Portland and Seattle.

Projections for IDA show that 2025 will see continued increases in passenger counts.

Idaho Falls remains committed to preparing for existing and future growth at the airport. 2025 will mark the start of utility and underground infrastructure being relocated for the next phase of a planned terminal expansion.

“We could not have had such a successful year without our community traveling to and from IDA,” said Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper. “Together, we are reaching new heights and will do everything we can to keep Idaho Falls as the airport of choice for area travelers.”
