Viewers of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! couldn't contain their giggles on Tuesday night, as they watched host Ant McPartlin seemingly take a playful jab at Dean McCullough.
During the show's latest airing, Maura Higgins and Jane Moore found out they had been chosen to face the Fright At The End of The Tunnel challenge together. To break the news, presenters Ant, aged 49, and Declan Donnelly entered the camp with Ant announcing: "Dean the public have decided it's not you."
This remark came after Dean undertook his sixth trial of the series, often battling the ominous Bushtucker Trials with varying degrees of success. Upon realising he wouldn't be subjected to a seventh trial, an elated Dean celebrated with fellow campmates, triggering Ant to cheekily comment: "We're as thrilled as you are Dean!"
Eagle-eyed fans took to X to call out Ant's humorous comment. One viewer tweeted: "'Dean, the public have decided it's NOT you' Ant: 'We're as thrilled as you are! ! ! ' #ImACeleb" accompanied by laughing emojis.
Another posted: "The public have decided it's not you Dean Ant 'we're as thrilled as you are' #ImACeleb" alongside a laughing GIF. Someone else remarked: "Ant: 'Dean, it's not you and I'm as thrilled as you are' #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity" followed by a GIF showing shocked laughter. While another said: "Ant: I'm as thrilled as you are Dean. Hahaha the sass #imaceleb," reports the Express.
Before the challenge, GK Barry expressed confidence in Jane's abilities: "This woman is going to sleep so peacefully tonight, she's wanted to do a Trial since she got here and I know she's gonna absolutely smash it."
On the other hand, Maura shared her fears: "I'm petrified, I just don't want to let everyone down."
As they approached the Trial area, hosts Ant and Dec greeted them with Ant commenting on their previous reactions: "You're probably the screamiest bunch of celebrities we've ever had on this show! ".
Ant and Dec then explained that the Trial consisted of two tunnels, one above and one below ground. The celebrity on the surface had to find secret code words and relay them to their partner underwater, who would use these codes to unlock stars.
Choosing their positions, Maura took on the above-ground challenge while Jane braved the underwater tunnel.
With a 12-minute timer to collect 12 stars, the klaxon sounded, and Maura began her frantic search through the sand for the code words, accompanied by toads, lizards, and her greatest fear - spiders.
Meanwhile, Jane faced a tough time in the water tunnels, battling with steamed-up goggles and difficulty keeping her head submerged long enough to secure the stars.
Despite the challenges, Jane and Maura managed to secure a commendable six out of 12 stars for camp, earning accolades from presenters Ant and Dec who commented: "That was a very, very tough Trial, so I think you did remarkably the pair of you, you should both be very proud."
On their return, an emotional Maura shed tears over her triumph over fear.
