Fans of I'm A Celebrity have been left scratching their heads over the recent remarks made by a former campmate.
Dean McCullough was the second celebrity to bid farewell to the Australian jungle following the public vote, hot on the heels of journalist and Loose Women panellist Jane Moore.
During his stint in the camp, the Radio 1 host faced more trials than any other contestant in the current series. A day after his departure from the show, he has been spilling the beans about his time on the programme.
However, some viewers were left puzzled by his comments during a guest appearance on the latest episode of the spin-off show, I'm A Celebrity Unpacked, reports the Express.
Dean joined hosts Joel Dommett, Kemi Rodgers and last year's champion Sam Thompson on the ITV2 show. When quizzed about his initial reactions and whether he enjoyed his first night back in luxury, Dean confessed that he missed the camp beds.
He said: "It was awful. I had the worst night's sleep the whole time since I've been out here. The camp beds are so comfortable. They're so flat and the sounds of the jungle, the fact that you're with people. I don't know. I didn't like the air conditioning, I didn't like the bed - in a five star hotel - thanks ITV!"
"I really miss it. I'll give anything to be back in there because I miss my campmates. I really miss them and I miss doing the chores. I sang in my hotel room this morning and no one sang back."
Dean has confessed that he's actually missed the camp duties since his departure from the show, leaving the hosts quite astonished. But it was during a discussion about watching past episodes of the show that left fans puzzled.
Dean excitedly shared: "I can't wait to watch the first episode. It took us four days to film that first episode. Four days. It was like a feature film."
He also mentioned how his friends and family keep commenting on his new online fame: "They [friends and family] keep talking about the memes. You've been memed up. It's my dream to become I meme. I'm now a meme."
Audiences couldn't get their heads around the idea that the premiere episode, focusing largely on celebs hurrying into camp, would require multiple days to shoot. A social media user questioned the four-day timeline, writing: "Four days to make the first episode?", while others were baffled as they said: "Literally not seen a single Dean meme."
Despite having been campmates themselves, presenters Joel and Sam managed to sidestep confirming if Dean's experience resonated with their own. However, viewers did find solace when Ruth Langsford on Unpacked didn't shy away from challenging some of Dean's remarks.
Attention shifted to a candid conversation between Love Islander Maura Higgins and podcaster GK Barry by the creek as they washed their clothes. The panel discussed the pair, notably because they hadn't been seen conversing much on the series thus far.
Dean shared his perspective, commenting: "I'm a boy's boy and a girl's girl. I'm quite lucky, I get to mingle with the whole gang. But these girls were such a joy to be around because they're big personalities they're all very different but equally quite similar. They've all got something to say and they're all strong women and sometimes when you're put strong women together, sometimes you see clashes. There was none of that. They all gas each other up."
Ruth, however, swiftly challenged a common trope, saying: "When you say that, oh when you put strong women together sometimes you get clashes. People assume that and I hate to say it boys it's usually men who assume that. And we're asked that all the time about Loose Women, but do you really get on? Yes we really all get on."
This exchange certainly struck a chord with audiences as one fan pointed out: "Ruth is putting Dean in his place" accompanied by praise hands emoji.
I'm A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
