At 33, Dean didn't go for a full hair transplant, as he was keen to concentrate on his "receding hairline."

To prep for the operation, only the front part of his scalp was shaved. He has openly shared that enduring the seven-hour treatment did involve some discomfort, albeit brief.

In response to his followers' curiosity on TikTok, he confirmed: "The answer is yeah it does [hurt] but it only hurts for a wee minute whilst you're getting your injections done in the back of the head."

Discussing the challenging aspects of his procedure, he recounted: "The whole thing took about seven hours and the first bit after the injections took about two and a half hours before we had a break. [...] The anticipation, the anxiety, the worry - that was the worst bit for me but they put me at ease and as soon as I was in the chair and I was frozen up, there was no bother."

Despite a smooth surgery, Dean McCullough encountered an unexpected reaction not long after, with his face swelling considerably.

Using TikTok, the Northern Irish celebrity joked: "I didn't realise when you got a hair transplant you get new cheekbones as well.

"When I was researching this whole situation, there were a lot of people I saw whinging about the swelling but I feel like they've missed a trick here. Look at them cheekbones, just look, people would pay good money for them."

The radio presenter was stunned by his cheekbones after the hair transplant left his face swollen

He quipped: "Alright I look like Shrek's wee cousin and my eyes have never been so far apart but in terms of bone structure, I'd give this a solid 9 out of 10."

Although the swelling was quite extreme, he revealed to fans that it calmed after three days.
