After a tense moment on I'm A Celebrity on Thursday night, host Ant McPartlin opened up about his reaction to Dean McCullough's trial mishap. Viewers had noticed Ant looking "seething" during the episode, and he didn't shy away from admitting his irritation with the campmate, acknowledging that he struggled to conceal it.
Dec Donnelly's presenting partner admitted he "wasn't happy" with his own response, which was evident in the show, while Dean did offer some resistance.
Ant labelled his behaviour as "unprofessional" and committed to being "kinder" to Dean moving forward, even though he defended his frustration after several days of trial drama. He had previously requested Sam Thompson not to bring up Dean, a plea made before going on air.
However, when the topic of Dean came up again, Ant faced questions about the visible anger on his face during the challenge. In the latest trial, Dean secured four stars but opted out early, repeating his action from two days prior.
Following a day where he failed to win any stars alongside GK Barry, Dean found himself struggling again and called for the trial to end prematurely. Ant's annoyance was palpable, and he didn't hesitate to confront Dean about his decision to quit amidst the fish guts, reports the Mirror.
On the spin-off series Unpacked, Sam shared his dismay, prompting Ant to explain his reaction, saying: "You just get to the point where you think what are you doing? ".
Dubbed the "bad cop" by host Joel Dommett, Ant McPartlin laughed off the label before admitting he was less than pleased with his own conduct. He exclaimed: "Oh my God," in reference to the fish guts, and then told Sam Thompson: "I told you not to talk to me about it Sam."
He confessed: "My annoyance came across on screen and it was unprofessional, and I am not happy about it. I will be kind to him today."
With Dean Gaffney set to face the next trial alongside Danny Jones, Ant is due for another encounter with him.
Dec Donnelly also expressed his anticipation for the upcoming trial, saying: "Danny is determined, he's enthusiastic, he really wants to [do well], there's no hiding for Dean now, he has to step up."
During the show, viewers took to social media to discuss Ant's reaction. One fan posted: "Ant has had enough of Dean," while another commented: "Ant is so fed up."
A third viewer noted: "Ant looks SEETHING and I feel it. Dean is not in the least bit entertaining," and a fourth added: "You can tell Ant is so sick of Dean doing these trials already."
