K-pop powerhouse HYBE has partnered with Grammy-winning producer and OneRepublic front man Ryan Tedder to launch a U.S.-based boy group, the company announced Friday.
Tedder, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun recently embarked on a project to recruit members of the new group through an audition, according to the company.
Tedder, a four-time Grammy Award winner, has previously worked with HYBE artists, including Tomorrow X Together ("Back for More"), &Team ("Dropkick"), and Katseye ("Debut").
Last year, HYBE successfully debuted its first U.S.-based international girl group, Katseye, in collaboration with Geffen Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.
"HYBE Music Group artists have consistently achieved global success, topping numerous charts every year," Bang said in a statement. "With Katseye, we have proven that the K-pop methodology can succeed in the mainstream U.S. market. Launching a new boy group in collaboration with Ryan Tedder is a step forward in continuing our legacy in the music industry." (Yonhap)
