A dramatic photograph shows just how close wildfires came to an historic pub and restaurant, as dry weather continues across the UK and Ireland.
Northern Ireland has been badly hit by wildfires over recent days, with firefighters tasked to more than 100 individual blazes over the course of just a few days.
Co Donegal in the Republic of Ireland has also been affected, and the historic Biddys O'Barnes pub and restaurant in the scenic Barnesmore Gap area has spoken out to thank emergency services - after the flames were spotted "across the road" from the business.

In a statement published on social media, alongside the striking photographs, Biddys O'Barnes said: "We were alarmed to see a gorse fire across the road. We want to express our deep gratitude to the Donegal and surrounding areas’ fire brigades and emergency services for their outstanding efforts in containing the blaze.
"As shown in these photos – the first two taken at 7am and the final one at 10am – the fire is now under control. We’re incredibly relieved that the homes of our neighbours, staff, and customers remain safe. We can’t thank the emergency services enough, and we’re so grateful for the strength and support of our community during this time."
