Korea's agricultural ministry said Monday the heavy snowfall that hit the country in late November has damaged 359 hectares of agricultural facilities.

It marked the largest snow-related damage since 2018, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The damage occurred after Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi areas, along with several other regions in the country, received record-level snowfall for November last week, leading to casualties and property damage.

Gyeonggi Province reported the largest agriculture-related damage, totaling 260 hectares, including 150 hectares of greenhouses and 73 hectares of ginseng cultivation areas.

North Chungcheong Province also experienced losses spanning 32 hectares of farmland.

"The government plans to complete investigations on damages at farms with insurance coverage within a week," Vice Agricultural Minister Park Beom-su said in a statement, noting the country will make efforts to help farms promptly restore their operations. (Yonhap)
