She said: "I am disgusted that a vulnerable grandmother has been manipulated and abused like this and after working hard her entire life she has had her bank account completely emptied. In fact she is now overdrawn by more than £400.
"Over £7,000 in cash had been taken from her account during some of the months, for god knows what, and we fear that she will never get any of this back again.
"She has been completely betrayed by someone who was supposed to be caring for her. The family has been destroyed and I just hope that she receives the justice that she deserves
"I am just thankful that other members of the family had some protections in place so that they were able to find out about the fraud before things got even worse."
A woman has been arrested as part of the police investigation into the allegations and is currently on bail pending further enquiries.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police in Antrim received a report of fraud and forgery on December 4th, 2024, and one woman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
"She was later released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
"Police enquiries in relation to this report remain ongoing at this time."
