Hanwha Systems, a defense electronics and ICT solutions unit under Hanwha Group, said Tuesday it has secured a contract worth 205 billion won ($146.2 million) with the Korean arms procurement agency to provide maintenance support for an Army weapon system.
Under the performance-based logistics (PBL) deal with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Hanwha Systems will offer maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service for the Cheonma, a short-range surface-to-air guided weapon system mounted on Army armored vehicles.
A PBL contract involves the weapon system developer being responsible for the development, deployment, operation and maintenance of the weapon system to ensure the reliable availability of key munitions.
For this project, Hanwha Systems will use its proprietary MRO platform, called TOMMS, for maintaining and supporting weapon systems both domestically and internationally.
Through the use of artificial intelligence technology, TOMMS can predict abnormalities, analyze faults and ensure that weapon systems maintain optimal combat readiness, Hanwha Systems said. (Yonhap)
