Eamonn Holmes offered some words of encouragement to his colleague Ellie Costello following her candid revelation.
While presenting GB News Breakfast on Tuesday (January 14), Ellie made a confession. During the show, Eamonn brought up the ongoing bin strike in Birmingham and expressed his full support for such strikes, despite common criticisms.
The veteran broadcaster shared that he once spent two weeks working as a bin man for a television programme, an experience that left him with a strong impression of how "filthy" people can be.
He emphatically stated: "Absolutely filthy. People dump mattresses on the side of the road, people drop all kinds of awfulness into their bins and beyond. You don't want to know."
Ellie joined the conversation with insights from her own life, telling her colleagues: "My bins are always overflowing, they don't come often enough."
She went on to describe how she has to compress the rubbish in her bins every fortnight due to them being crammed, particularly with cardboard from her online shopping, reports the Express.
Ellie confessed: "Do you know what I did the other day which I am ashamed to say, when I got in the taxi at 3 o'clock in the morning, I took a load of recycling and put it in the neighbours bin in the middle of the night."
Eamonn consoled his co-presenter, assuring her: "What they don't know doesn't hurt them." However, he humorously added that her neighbours might now be in the loop.
Ellie Costello has stepped in for Isabel Webster on GB News after the latter was ousted from the channels breakfast show with Eamonn Holmes in a surprise shake-up late last year.
GB News confirmed the significant reshuffle: "Ellie Costello will now co-host GBN Breakfast five days a week, presenting alongside Eamonn Holmes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and with Stephen Dixon on Thursday and Friday. Stephen and Anne Diamond will continue to co-present GB News Breakfast at Weekends."
On January 5, a thrilled Eamonn took to social media, sharing a picture of himself and Ellie at the news desk, expressing his excitement about the new team: "New Year, a new day and a new Breakfast line up on @GBNews. It's now Eamonn and @EllieCostellotv from 6 to 9.30."
In his post, Eamonn couldn't help but celebrate the revamped lineup: "It's fresh, bright, different and I hope we have your company on TV, online, on your smartphone, on your Radio and by asking your smart device to play GB News. Please join us and say Hello."
Breakfast With Eamonn And Ellie airs on every weekday from 6am until 9.30am on GB News
