GB News' Eamonn Holmes horrifies co-star as he slams Kate Middleton photo

4 months ago 258

GB News anchor Eamonn Holmes shocked his colleague Ellie Costello with a startlingly blunt critique a new photo of Princess Kate that's been released in honour of World Cancer Day (Feb 4th).

Joined by former politicians Jonathan Ashworth and Anna Firth, Eamonn began: "Ellie, like most people I will be very supportive of it and say it's lovely and everything else. But I think that's hideous. It's absolutely hideous, I think it's scary."

Ellie, taken aback, let out a "What!" while Anna questioned: "You don't like that photo do you?"

The veteran broadcaster went on: "It's like from a ghost film. What's inspirational about that?" Ellie argued: "She looks like she's celebrating," but Eamonn countered: "She looks like she's nailed to a cross."

Amidst the collective shock, Anna leapt to the Royal's defence, describing the image: "She's standing on a tree that's fallen down, she's on top of it and she's standing there, she's stoic, she still going, she's joyfully in her recovery and remission."

However, Eamonn wasn't having it, after clarifying that Kate was standing on a "dead tree," he repeated: "What is inspirational about that?"

The broadcaster continued: "Well I'm just saying because I know no one else will say it, I think it's a hideous-looking picture."

Anna explained: "That may not be the best view of it because when you see it online, it's a beautifully wintery morning. We've all gone out with our kids and walked along logs, and she's holding out her arms to embrace everybody who's had cancer."

Ashworth echoed: "I agree; I think it a fabulous image, and of course, it's taken by Prince Louis, who is six". But Eamonn stood firm, saying: "I don't think he's got an eye for photography."

Fans took to social media to rage at Eamonn's comments, as one said: "The kid is 6 years old and some donut on the news slates it. Photography is based on what the individual is seeing through the lens, sometimes it works sometimes not. Don’t slate a kid for having fun with his camera."

Another agreed: "I find Eamonn Holmes very difficult to watch. I feel sorry for poor Ellie who is talked over constantly. This man is so devoid of manners and clearly doesn’t see how he comes across. He is also way out of his depth when it’s not football being discussed."

Kensington Palace shared the photographs across their social media platforms ahead of World Cancer Day on Tuesday (January 4). The images featured Kate and were captioned: "Don't forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease".

This comes as Kate continues her gradual return to royal duties following her gruelling cancer treatment last summer at the Royal Marsden Hospital. She announced in January that she is in remission and has since become the hospital's joint royal patron, with Prince William. Diana, Princess of Wales, had been a previous royal patron.
