GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has spoken out after his unexpected absence from the breakfast show.
Normally, the Northern Irish broadcaster co-hosts the morning programme alongside Ellie Costello from Monday to Wednesday. However, this week saw a surprise change in the presenting line-up, with Stephen Dixon, who typically presents the show from Thursday to Friday with Anne Diamond, stepping in to cover for Eamonn.
Meanwhile, Eamonn took to Instagram to address speculation about his absence and reassure his fans.
Posting a photo of himself enjoying an ice cream in the sunshine, he playfully captioned it: "Even my mouth wasn't big enough for this! [ice cream emoji, sun emoji] Love an ice cream," and signed off with a kiss.
Fans quickly flocked to the comments section to send their well wishes. One user wrote: "Enjoy, missing you at breakfast," to which Eamonn replied: "A few days off Lynda. Pacing myself [smiling tongue out emoji]."
Another fan expressed their appreciation for Eamonn, saying: "Love you Eamonn. I love an ice cream too. With sprinkles. Thank you for bringing joy to our screens each morning on GB News. Makes my day so much better. Take care of yourself," before Eamonn responded with three prayer emojis.
A third fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "Really missed you this morning just wasn't the same without you, hope you're back [soon] [cry-laughing emoji]," reports the Express.
Recent remarks on a morning programme saw Eamonn Holmes delivering some words of solidarity to his colleague Ellie Costello after she shared a candid admission.
During the broadcast, Eamonn addressed a bin collector strike in Birmingham, expressing support for such strikes, which are commonly met with criticism.
The veteran broadcaster, aged 65, reflected on his own experience from a two-week stint on a television series where he worked as a refuse collector. This stint left him with an acute awareness of the mess people make.
He was outspoken in his observation: "Absolutely filthy. People dump mattress on the side of the road, people drop all kinds of awfulness into their bins and beyond. You don't want to know."
Ellie, aged 31, pitched in with her personal tale, informing Eamonn: "My bins are always overflowing, they don't come often enough."
She recounted how she frequently has to squash down the waste herself, citing the abundance of cardboard from her online shopping as a major contributor.
Furthermore, she confessed with embarrassment: "Do you know what I did the other day which I am ashamed to say, when I got in the taxi at three o'clock in the morning, I took a load of recycling and put it in the neighbours bin in the middle of the night."
Eamonn consoled his co-presenter, assuring her it wasn't a big deal by saying, "What they don't know doesn't hurt them."
Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie airs everyday from 6am on GB News
