2 months ago 277

The family of missing Larne man Gary Patterson remain dedicated to finding him more than five months after his disappearance although fear "police have exhausted all options".

Gary Patterson was last seen outside Tesco on Main Street in Larne on Saturday, October 12 lifting money from a cash machine. He had left his flat in the Co Antrim town at 10am that day.

The 45-year-old was reported missing on December 20, with police saying he has links to the Larne and Belfast areas. Searches have been taking place every week since his disappearance was reported, with Gary's family bringing in professional divers to try and find him.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Gary's brother Simon said that the past few months have been very difficult as they have no answers at all regarding where Gary is or what may have happened to him.

In an effort to spread more awareness about Gary's disappearance, his family are pushing a renewed appeal on social media tonight where they are asking people to post a picture of a candle alongside a picture of Gary with the hashtag #letsfindgary.

Simon said: "The past few months have been very difficult and we are trying to do all that we can to spread awareness about Gary's disappearance and find him but five months on and we are no closer to finding any answers. I think it has also got to the point where the police have exhausted all of their options too.

"We are out every week and have begun to widen our search for him and we just hope that we can find something soon that will help us find him. We started the Gofundme page so that we would be able to contribute something to the professionals who have volunteered their time to find Gary and we are very grateful for all of the support we have received from everyone.

"On Monday evening we are hoping that we can push the campaign to find Gary even further and we are hoping people can flood social media with candles and pictures of Gary under the hashtag #letsfindgary so that we can increase the awareness about him."

The last missing person appeal from police about Gary Patterson was issued on January 9, with officers saying they are "increasingly concerned for his wellbeing."

Inspector Ash said: “45-year-old Gary Patterson has now been missing for almost 3 months, having last been seen in Larne on Saturday, 12th October 2024. Gary was reported missing on Friday, 20th December and has links to the Larne and Belfast areas.

“He has dark hair and when last seen, he had a thick moustache and was wearing a distinctive yellow and black check patterned coat with dark blue jeans, hiking/walking boots and a black beanie hat.

“We are growing increasingly concerned for Gary’s wellbeing and would ask that anyone who has seen him, or who may have information which may help us to locate him, contact police on 101, quoting reference 530 of 20/12/24.”
