Police in Ireland sent an American tourist her licence back along with a tongue-in-cheek letter after it was handed in to officers in Co Kerry.

Sgt Joe O'Sullivan posted the document back to the woman named Caroline who was from Ohio.

In a lighthearted letter accompanying the license, Sgt. O'Sullivan wrote: "Dear Caroline. Please find enclosed your driving licence."

"This was handed into the Garda station in Killarney, Co Kerry and I am now returning it to you."

"I hope you had a wild and enjoyable time here in Ireland, please feel free to visit us again anytime, and next time, don't drink so much Guinness and lose your driving licence. It's a very important document."

"If you have any queries or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Kind regards, Sgt Joe O'Sullivan."

Kerry Gardai shared the humorous letter after it was shared on TikTok by Caroline.

They wrote: "Caroline and Rachel recently took a besties trip to Ireland, and well, the rest is as the story goes. We're proud that our way of community-based policing continues to bridge the Atlantic. It really is the small things, isn't it?"

It seems the two girls from the US had an unforgettable night in Killarney. The girls also posted a TikTok video that now has more than 600,000 views, showing the letter.
