A special bakesale fundraiser is to take place next week at a school in order to support a local parent who has had a stage four cancer diagnosis.

On Tuesday, March 18, Phatbox Bakery in Newtownards will be working in partnership with Dundonald Primary School in order to hold a special bake sale to raise funds for father of two Reece Floyd who has been diagnosed with stage four skin cancer in recent months.

Reece is due to marry his fiance Lauren in the coming weeks and has told Belfast Live of his worries for the future.

The owner of the bakery said: "Our children go to the same school as Reece's and we have been heartbroken to hear of his cancer diagnosis and wanted to see if we could do something to help him and his family.

"I have been in his children's shoes as my dad battled cancer for 14 years when I was a child and I know how hard it can be on everyone in the family. I just want to be able to do something that can give them a bit of a boost and make happy memories together than they can cherish for the rest of their lives.

"In order to do this we have arranged with Dundonald Primary School to have a special bake sale on Tuesday, March 18, and are encouraging as many people as possible to come down and give their support to Reece and Lauren at this very difficult time."
