FORT LAUDERDALE — Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport began using both of its runways again Saturday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
The airport was using only its south runway for all takeoffs and landings all of Friday because parts of the north runway was still under several feet of water.
The north runway reopened to “limited” arrivals and departures around noon, said Arlene Satchell, a spokesperson for the airport. It will only receive daytime flights, between sunrise and sunset.
Satchell did not know when flights would begin using the runway. She did not say whether the flooding on the runway had entirely receded.
After shutting down all operations Wednesday night and all of Thursday because of flooding during a rain storm, the Fort Lauderdale airport reopened at 9 a.m. Friday, once the south runway finally dried out and crews removed hazardous debris.

People on arriving flights to Fort Lauderdale that have not yet taken off are currently experiencing delays of about an hour and a half, according to FlightAware. Arriving flights that are already en route are delayed about 30 minutes and decreasing.
Departing flights are delayed about 30 minutes and increasing.
