All lanes of Interstate 75 in Florida were shut down outside Naples on Friday afternoon after a plane with five people aboard crashed onto the highway and struck a vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.
Authorities didn’t immediately release an estimated casualty count, but footage from the scene showed the plane, a Bombardier Challenger 600, was engulfed in flames. The FAA said the plane crashed at 3:45 p.m.
Online flight records showed the plane belonged to Hop-a-Jet, a private charter company based in Florida.
