Family "left shaken" after masked gang forces them to sit in room while house ransacked

Violent intruders forced their way into a home before making a family of five sit in the living room while they searched the house for cash, police say.

The incident, in the Four Winds area of South Belfast, happened on Wednesday night, the PSNI said in a statement issued on Thursday.

A police spokesperson said: “Detectives are investigating an burglary at a home in the Newtownbreda area last night, Wednesday 22 January.

“At around 8.50pm four masked men forced their way into the property in Cleveley Park. They gathered the five family members present in the living room while they rummaged through the house, eventually making off with a sum of cash. The family were left shaken but were physically unharmed.

“Anyone with information or who may have captured CCTV, mobile phone or any other footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1775 22/01/25.”
