Monday's episode of Emmerdale is set to bring a familiar face back into the spotlight.
Kim Tate recently hired Ross Barton for security duties, with the aim of keeping an eye on Joe Tate. Long-time viewers will recall that Joe is grappling with chronic kidney disease and his outlook is bleak without a transplant.
After unsuccessfully trying to secure a kidney from his half-brother, Noah Dingle, by drugging him, Joe was informed by his private doctor, Dr Crowley, that Noah wasn't a match. As a result, Joe turned his attention to another relative, his uncle Caleb Milligan.
In the forthcoming scenes, Ross keeps a close watch on Joe and reports back to Kim, who insists she needs solid proof of Joe's plans.
Later, Joe and Dr Crowley hold a secret meeting in a lay-by to finalise their scheme. However, their discussion is abruptly interrupted when Ross knocks on their car window, leaving Dr Crowley unnerved and wanting to delay unless Joe can resolve the situation, reports Leeds Live.
Soon after, Ross receives a distressing phone call informing him that his brother, Pete, has been assaulted. Ross rushes off to the hospital to see Pete, leaving the coast clear for Dr Crowley and Joe to proceed with their nefarious plan.
Fans of the soap will be thrilled to hear a mention of Pete, who was last seen in the village in 2020.
Pete, portrayed by Anthony Quinlan, left the village in 2020 to join his brother Ross in Liverpool, who had departed two years earlier.
Since leaving the ITV soap, 40 year old Anthony, who played Pete, has shifted his focus towards fitness.
After his departure from the show, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, launching a vegan supplements company and setting up an online coaching service aimed at helping clients "lose weight and get lean".
In his personal life, things are looking up for Anthony who, in 2022, happily revealed his relationship with Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson. The couple has been going strong and even spent a blissful holiday in Cyprus recently.
Elsewhere, Joe Gill, who played Anthony's on-screen brother Finn Barton from 2013 to 2017, has kept himself busy with various acting projects.
Now 31, Joe has taken to the stage and screen with notable versatility. In 2020, he portrayed Hareton Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights, donned a police uniform for Brassic in 2022, and most recently graced the autumn tour of Helen Forrester's By The Waters Of Liverpool.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
