Emmerdale fans believe they've figured out soap icon Eric Pollard's revenge scheme against Tracy Metcalfe.
Eric, portrayed by Chris Chittell, has been a constant presence on the ITV soap since his debut in 1986. As the longest-serving character, he's been at the centre of numerous major plotlines.
From multiple marriages and village disputes to his recent heart-wrenching struggle with Parkinson's disease, Eric's tenure in the Dales has been anything but dull.
Recently, he was left shattered after discovering employee Tracy's (Amy Walsh) deceit. Single mum Tracy has been finding it tough to get by after Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) departed the village, leading her to steal money from Eric's shop.
The situation escalated when Eric noticed a significant amount of money missing and blamed himself, unaware that Tracy was the culprit.
Overwhelmed with guilt, she confided in her sister Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick), who inadvertently spilled the beans to Eric while intoxicated, leaving him devastated.
Despite Vanessa providing Tracy with the money to repay Eric, he still fired her. A humiliated Tracy declared her intention to leave the village.
But Eric recently had a change of heart and rehired her, though she'll have to work hard to regain his trust, reports Leicestershire Live.
Emmerdale enthusiasts are speculating that Eric might be plotting vengeance against Tracy. Sharing theories on social media, several followers of the show believe he may orchestrate a scenario to have Tracy apprehended.
One fan commented on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page: "Eric is definitely planning his revenge..." Another chimed in with: " I hope so! Take Tracy down Eric!".
Another observer implied police involvement: "I think he will eventually get the police involved."
A fourth enthusiast expressed their expectation: "Yeah, hopefully he's setting it up ready."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
