Emmerdale viewers are speculating about who Billy Fletcher's next love interest will be.
Billy, portrayed by Jay Kontzle, first appeared in the iconic Dales in December 2018 and has since become a beloved character among the soap's dedicated fanbase.
The doting father has been involved in numerous major plotlines, from his ill-fated wedding to Dawn Taylor (played by Olivia Bromley) to the shocking leukaemia diagnosis of their son Evan.
Currently, he is oblivious to the fact that Dawn has been unfaithful with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who made a dramatic return to the show at Christmas and has been stirring up trouble ever since.
Seeking a respite from recent pressures, Dawn turned to Joe and despite claiming it was a one-time thing, the two have continued their affair while falling for each other. Joe's step-grandmother Kim Tate (Claire King), suspicious of Joe, eventually discovered the truth about Joe and Dawn's secret relationship.
Despite her best efforts to keep them apart, in Wednesday's episode (April 16), Dawn made a significant decision: she chose to end her relationship with Billy to be with Joe.
Now, as Billy and Dawn's breakup is imminent, fans are already predicting who he will date next - and it's a face we all recognise.
"Feel sorry for Billy, Dawn needs to wake up!" exclaimed an Emmerdale fan on a dedicated Facebook page, sparking a conversation about the character's storyline. Another fan added their opinion: "He definitely needs someone better for him.", reports Leicestershire Live.
The debate heated up as a third fan speculated about a potential return for Debbie Dingle, played by Charley Webb, suggesting she could be a new romantic interest for Billy: "Debbie Dingle!"
Their comment was met with support from another fan who saw the potential for additional drama: "Yes to this - it would annoy Joe as well."
Debbie Dingle, portrayed by Charley Webb, is hailed as an iconic figure in Emmerdale, having made her first appearance in 2002. As Cain's (Jeff Hordley) daughter, she has been at the heart of many major plots, including a relationship with Joe, before her departure in 2021.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
