Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Joe Tate may not pull through his kidney transplant, suspecting a grim health plot twist masterminded by Dr.Crowley.
It was recently revealed that Joe (played by Ned Porteous) is in dire need of a kidney transplant as his organs are failing.
In his desperation, he drugged and targeted his half-brother, Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), only to find out they weren't a match. This led Joe to set his sights on his uncle Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
When his plan to drug Caleb at his warehouse depot backfired, Joe resorted to drastic measures, enlisting his violent associate Shaun to stab Caleb and steal his car.
On the night of March 27, Joe's personal physician, Dr Crowley (James Hillier), was appalled by the unfolding events as he battled to keep Caleb alive and secure his kidney for Joe, reports Leeds Live.
At one point, Caleb flat-lined, his life teetering on the edge after being stabbed once, and his survival prospects began to look bleak.
However, in Friday's episode, it was disclosed that Caleb had miraculously survived and, in a shocking turn of events, Joe had received his kidney via surgery.
Despite this, Emmerdale viewers are theorising that Dr Crowley has transplanted Caleb's injured kidney from the stabbing into Joe, despite assuring him the organ was undamaged. They believe this could lead to Joe's unfortunate demise.
One fan shared their theory on Facebook: "My theory is that Joe received Caleb's damaged kidney and it's going to fail... Devine Retribution.."
A second person remarked: "Good serve him right", and a third contributed: "We can only hope that it doesn't work and he's put himself and others at risk. Karma will prevail in the end."
One individual highlighted: "The kidney wasn't damaged", while another clarified: "But it could still fail. The police will want Joe as a witness to the attack and what are they going to say = sorry he is in hospital after a kidney transplant lol."
"I hope it does horrible man", another exclaimed with fervour.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
