Emmerdale viewers are speculating that a beloved former resident of the Dales might be making a return as April Windsor's life takes a tumultuous turn.
April (portrayed by Amelia Flanagan) has been through a harrowing few months on the ITV series. Towards the end of the previous year, she vanished after bolting from home due to a clash with her father Marlon (played by Mark Charnock).
After a prolonged absence, April was found in a dramatic twist, having gone into labour unexpectedly in a gym toilet, only to face the heartbreak of her baby daughter's stillbirth.
Back in the Dales, the revelation of her pregnancy stunned her family. When pressed about the baby's father, April claimed it was just some "random" guy from a party.
Despite her attempts to find stability, April is visibly struggling. Marlon, for his part, is consumed by anxiety over the possibility of her running away again, leading him to walk on eggshells whenever he's around her, reports Leicestershire Live.
Marlon's apprehension has led to leniency towards April's actions, such as last week when he and Rhona (Zoe Henry) learned she had been intimate with a boy from a party.
While Rhona attempted to enforce some discipline, Marlon couldn't bring himself to be strict, fearing that pressuring April could drive her away once more.
Marlon's actions have been far from exemplary throughout this saga. In a shocking twist last month, he resorted to setting up and planting drugs on Dylan (Fred Kettle) – a street acquaintance of his daughter April – an act that she discovered this week, leaving her appalled.
In the latest instalment aired on Thursday (April 31), April hit rock bottom as she executed her vengeful scheme against her father. She pilfered ketamine from the veterinary clinic and staged what appeared to be an overdose.
Upon entering their home, Marlon was met with the harrowing sight of April lying motionless on the floor amidst scattered drugs. Believing her to be deceased, he frantically instructed Rhona to dial for emergency services, only for April to abruptly sit up, revealing she was unharmed.
With April seemingly spiralling out of control, viewers are speculating that a familiar face might return to Emmerdale to steer her back on track. On an Emmerdale fan page on Facebook, one viewer lamented: "Gosh that April is too much, and Marlon is pathetic, he needs to put some rules down sharpish never mind tip-toeing around the spoilt brat."
The comments section quickly filled with theories, with several fans hinting at the potential comeback of her aunt Kelly Windsor (Adele Silva). One person commented: "She's going off the rails for sure. Someone needs to sort her out."

Kelly is April's auntie. Her last appearance in the renowned Dales was back in 2011, when she chose to depart from the village and embark on a fresh start in London.
