Emmerdale actor Jurell Carter, who played Nate Robinson, has spoken out about his character's dramatic exit from the soap, calling for "justice" for Nate after his death scene was aired.
Carter first appeared as Nate in 2019, but his character vanished from the show when Nate moved to Shetland for a new job following the breakdown of his marriage to Tracy Metcalfe.
Fans became suspicious when no one heard from Nate except for a text message confirming his safe arrival. The introduction of enigmatic newcomer John Sugden, who was also the last person to communicate with Nate, raised further questions.
It was only during the Valentine's Day limo crash that viewers discovered Nate's fate. As Amy Wyatt found herself submerged in a frozen lake, she encountered Nate's body at the bottom.
Nate's body, wrapped and chained, indicated that his death was not an accident. While viewers awaited answers, it was John Sugden who came under the most scrutiny, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In the hour-long episode on Thursday (April 10), audiences saw Nate's final moments. He was injured in a barn fire, and John Sugden attempted to save him by administering an injection.
Regrettably, Nate had a negative reaction to the injection, causing him to collapse and die. John cried out as he realised Nate was dead, then wrapped up his body and dumped it in the lake.
In recent episodes, John appears to have developed a "hero complex", causing harm to non-consenting patients before stepping in to "saves" them.
Jurell was at the centre of some of the soap's most dramatic storylines, including the mix-up of Chas Dingle's medication, framing Ella Forster, causing Jacob's allergic reaction, and the tragic accidental death of Nate.
After an emotional episode revealing Nate's fate, Jurell took to Instagram to share a clip of the heart-wrenching flashbacks, captioning it with: "Justice for my boy Nate" alongside broken heart emojis.
Post-Emmerdale, Jurell has embraced the stage, taking on the character Loggo in James Graham's adaptation of Alan Bleasdale's critically acclaimed 'Boys from the Blackstuff'.
Set against the backdrop of 1980s Liverpool, the play poignantly depicts the struggles of five men desperately seeking employment in a time of economic hardship.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
