Emergency services have scrambled to an incident involving an aircraft at Belfast City Airport this afternoon.

Images seen by Belfast Live appear to show fire crews on the runway dealing with an incident involving an Aer Lingus aircraft.

The exact details of the incident remain unclear at present; however, a number of flights are continuing to circle the airport or divert to Belfast International.

Aer Lingus and Belfast City Airport have been approached for comment.

Delays and cancellations

The incident has led to a number of flights diverting to Belfast International Airport. The British Airway flight BA8756 from London City and the Aer Lingus flight EI3673 from Leeds Bradford have landed at Belfast International Airport.

Elsewhere, there are delays expected to most other flights arriving at Belfast City Airport.
