The Education Authority has confirmed that school admission emails were sent one week early on Thursday, in error.
In a statement to Belfast Live this morning a spokesperson for the EA said parents/carers received an "early notification of outcome this morning by email". An investigation is now underway, and the EA has apologised.
"Most parents/carers of children going through the pre-school and primary school admissions process for the 2025-26 academic year will have received an early notification of outcome this morning by email," the statement read.
"We are currently investigating why the system issued notifications earlier than scheduled and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please be assured the outcome of your child’s application in your email is correct.
"Parents/carers will be able to log on to EA Connect and accept/reject their child’s place, or list other preferences, from 12 noon on Monday 7 April. There is no need to contact schools and pre-school settings.
"If you have not received an email please contact our Admissions team on 028 9047 0177."
Alliance MLA for Lagan Valley Michelle Guy said: "The P1 and Nursery School admissions emails appear to have been issued today rather than 9th of April. Parents have been in touch and schools do not appear to have been made aware of this. I am in contact with the EA to get clarity on the position.
"EA have confirmed the emails have issued early in error. The important bit for parents is the information on the letter is accurate in terms of the place their child has been allocated. The functionality for accepting a place has not been activated yet. EA will update soon."
