EastEnders' legend 'confirms' BBC soap return after emotional exit

EastEnders icon Louisa Lytton has dropped a tantalising hint about her return to the BBC soap sometime in the future following her departure as Ruby Allen.

The actress, 36, took her final bow from the BBC soap after the heart-wrenching demise of Ruby's beloved Martin Fowler (James Bye) in February.

In forthcoming episodes, viewers will witness Ruby's decision to depart Walford as she tries to grapple with her profound grief.

On Tuesday's (April 8) instalment of ITV's Loose Women, Louisa seemed to affirm to host Ruth Langsford that she anticipates making a comeback to EastEnders down the line.

Reflecting on her last moments with co-star Lacey Turner, who portrays Stacey Slater, Louisa expressed her hope for on-screen reconciliation between Ruby and her erstwhile best mate before her exit, reports Plymouth Live.

She shared: "It's funny because being there originally was all about Ruby and Stacey, and the two times I have been back since we haven't been friends in the show.

"We don't actually get to work together that much. But even doing my last few scenes with her, it was just amazing working together. I would like that, but I have now left."

Joining in the conversation, Ruth Langsford reassured, "You're always coming back; she will be coming back, don't worry," prompting Louisa to confirm, "Yeah."

Louisa first took on Ruby Allen’s role in 2005, arriving at Albert Square as the daughter of notorious gangster Johnny Allen (Billy Murray).

She exited the show in 2006, only to make a dramatic comeback in 2018, before departing again in 2021, leaving viewers with the revelation that Ruby was expecting Martin's baby.

Fast forward to November 2024, and Ruby made another return, this time with Martin's child, Roman, as the couple reignited their love story during the soap's 40th anniversary festivities.

However, tragedy struck when Martin succumbed to a cardiac arrest after being pinned under a metal beam in The Queen Vic.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and Player and Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX
