Eamonn Holmes says 'I was quite embarrassed' as he takes swipe at Davina McCall's BRITs dress

TV veteran Eamonn Holmes didn't hold back on his thoughts regarding Davina McCall's sensational appearance at the BRIT Awards.

Davina turned heads in a see-through black lace maxi dress that flaunted her impeccable shape on Saturday (March 1).

The star had graced the red carpet mere months after her operation to remove a benign brain tumour, which was identified by medics as a colloid cyst. This 14mm growth was successfully excised last November.

Addressing why she opted for the head-turning number, Davina shared on the red carpet, "I just thought, how disgraceful can I look? I'm growing old disgracefully. I thought what should I do? And I thought go see-through."

During Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie, Eamonn, alongside his colleague Ellie Costello, brought up the weekend's award ceremony and particularly zoomed in on his pal Davina's fashion decision.

In a conversation about the star's bold choice, Eamonn revealed, "I was quite embarrassed by that. I was with Davina, with her the night before, having dinner. I couldn't look at her the same way," reports the Mirror.

Dawn Neesom, his co-host, chimed in with some playful banter, asking, "She was wearing more than that when you were having dinner, hopefully?" to which Eamonn responded with a chuckle, "She was. She was. She was in love with life."

Further commentary was provided by Suzan Holder, who remarked, "That's fantastic. The fact that she's well. As I say, she looks great. That is what she will tell you. It's empowering. I want to do this. That's fine. But I know people who work in telly and women that work in television."

Earlier in the discussion, Suzan expressed her reluctance to criticise other women, but mentioned it was regrettable that "she feels she needs to do that".

"Davina McCall, who looks great, she's perfectly decent. She's wearing a sheer dress over bra and pants. She looks great. she's been through a lot. I don't want to criticise another woman, but to me, you need to look like, she's in the paper because she's competing with those other women. That's what she's doing there. It's a shame she feels she needs to do that," Suzan commented.

Davina had previously spoken candidly about her tumour, sharing her frustration.

"I felt like this thing had taken control of me and I was so angry about that. I couldn't let it go, I was like, 'How dare you control my daily life like this and make me feel every day like I'm in danger?' ... I have a newfound enormous sympathy for people who have benign brain tumours," she revealed on her podcast Begin Again.

"I have had so many people say to me, 'Well, at least it was benign.' And you think, 'You have no idea that benign brain tumours can still kill you.'"

Davina concluded: "It's just, you don't know when it's going to happen. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen in years' time. It's different to cancer, but it is also awful. A benign does not mean fine."

The BRIT Awards are available to stream on ITVX
