Eamonn Holmes has faced yet another setback as his planned theatre tour has been cancelled due to 'poor ticket sales'. The 65-year-old GB News presenter was due to make his live stage debut on 11 March, but sluggish demand for tickets reportedly led organisers to pull the plug.
A source told The Sun: "Eamonn was really looking forward to the show. He loves interacting with the public and meeting fans. But ticket sales just weren't there. It's been a tough time for him personally and this is another disappointment to deal with." The Mirror has reached out to Eamonn's representatives for comment.
Eamonn announced the Things We Like! tour back in December as he took to social media to tell fans: "Coming your way soon and in theatres around the Country. Maybe the perfect last minute Christmas gift!"
Last week, the presenter updated fans about the tour being postponed, saying: "Working with my mates @Coytey67 and Deano on our soon to be released podcast/ videocast Things we Like today. Hoping you like the same things. Will keep you posted re launch date."
Last year, Eamonn made headlines when he announced his split from fellow presenter Ruth Langsford after 14 years of marriage. Ruth and Eamonn's marriage reportedly ended after the Loose Women presenter discovered he was 'sharing intimate chats with another woman'.
A source told The Sun that the Belfast presenter 'thought he was home alone' when he was on the phone. "But Ruth could hear him from elsewhere in the house and was totally horrified," they said. "She confronted Eamonn. It was quite a shock - for both of them."
The insider added it was 'a huge blow' for Ruth, who recently celebrated her 65th birthday with her close friends, as she was caring for him as he dealt with health issues, the Mirror reports.
"To discover he was sharing intimate chats with another woman was a real kick in the teeth for Ruth," they claimed. The source went on to allege the discovery of the phone call happened in April last year, and a few weeks later, she found messages on his laptop.
Eamonn has since moved on with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, with the pair showcasing their romance with trips and outings. The former couple had been together since 1996 and married since 2010. While the duo have kept mostly quiet about their split, Ruth previously said dealing with the divorce had been 'very painful' for her - especially while handling it in the public eye.
Ruth has now told friends she won't start dating again until her divorce from Eamonn Holmes is finalised. Our source says that despite 65-year-old Eamonn moving on with Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior, Loose Women panellist Ruth is not ready for a new relationship and "just wants out" of her marriage.
"She's still wearing her wedding ring because she's coming to terms with a long relationship ending, and realising Eamonn maybe wasn't the person she thought he was," our source claimed. "And she's also coming to terms with life being very, very different for her going forward.
"Ruth has been having fun going out with her girlfriends, and enjoying a little flirt, but that's it. She really needs the Eamonn chapter to be fully closed before she can move on romantically, she needs her freedom.
"She really isn't dating, it's the last thing she wants to do," our source continued. "She just wants to get the divorce over and done with. Her friends would love to see her happy with someone else, but she needs to get the divorce over with first before she can properly move on."
