Eamonn Holmes furious as he's accused of getting Isabel Webster sacked from GB News

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has fired back after being blamed for the dismissal of his co-host Isabel Webster.

It was revealed last month that Isabel's departure from GB News was due to strained relationships on the show over her working hours. The 42-year-old, who previously fronted Sunrise on Sky News, co-hosted GB News Breakfast alongside Eamonn until her seemingly acrimonious exit before Christmas.

Eamonn, 65, has now returned to work following the show's reshuffle, posting a picture with his new glamorous breakfast show co-presenter. He praised Ellie Costello, 31, as being "fresh, bright and different". Sharing a photo from behind the studio desk, he penned: "A New Year , a new day and a new Breakfast line up on @GBNews."

"It's now Eamonn and @EllieCostellotv from 6 to 9.30 . It's Fresh, bright, different and I hope we have your company on TV, online, on your smartphone, on your Radio and by asking your smart device to play GB News. Please join us and say Hello." However, some fans criticised the TV veteran in the comments section underneath his post.

One irate Instagram user told Eamonn: "Your mate got sacked for not being right wing enough and you sat back and did nothing. With friends like you..." To which Eamonn retorted: "And u know nothing!" The sudden split of TV pair Eamonn and Isabel surprised fans after issues had been quietly brewing behind the scenes.

Eamonn discussed his former co-host's sudden departure from the show on air today. The veteran broadcaster shared his feelings on this morning's episode, saying: "It is our first day without Isabel, and we miss her already." He also acknowledged messages from viewers, stating, "Not that we don't welcome you here, Miss Ellie, but thank you very much for all of your comments about Isabel."

Eamonn promised fans, "We will make sure they are passed on. Thank you for taking the time and trouble," as he concluded his thoughts. Isabel, 41, was replaced on GB News' breakfast line-up by Ellie Costello, who at 31 years old, has quickly been dubbed the channel's answer to Holly Willoughby. In a major shake-up, Britain's newest news broadcaster underwent a series of strategic changes, marked by the unexpected exit of fan-favourite Isabel.

Not only did she step down, but the revamp also included reducing on-air hours for well-known politician Jacob Rees-Mogg and replacing Mark Dolan's weekend show, indicating a significant move to refresh the channel's line-up. Insiders suggested a behind-the-scenes dispute over working conditions led to Isabel's decision to leave.

Sources alleged that Isabel clashed with senior management over demands to increase her broadcast days from three to five each week. This contentious issue reportedly heightened stress during contract negotiations, ultimately creating tension off camera. A source spilled claimed to The Sun about Eamonn Holmes's role on his show: "Eamonn's obviously the main star of the show and likes to be in charge - he's now looking forward to working with Ellie, who's a young talent he can help mould as her career progresses."

Following Isabel's departure from the team, Eamonn shared a succinct farewell on his social channels, simply stating: "'Bye my girl x." This brief adieu drew eyes for its surprisingly brusque nature for such a public goodbye.
