3 months ago 310

Emergency services are in attendance at a "major incident" in Co Tyrone.

Traffic is being diverted and a cordon is in place at flats in the Lisnahull area of Dungannon. No access or exit to the area is currently possible through the Newell Road entrance and it's expected this will continue while emergency services attend.

Local councillor Deirdre Varsani said: "There is an ongoing serious incident at the flats at entrance to Lisnahull. Emergency crews and multiple police cars are in attendance and a large area is cordoned off.

"No access or exit is currently possible via the Newell Road entrance to Lisnahull and this is likely to continue while teams carry out their duties. People in the area are understandably concerned and more details will be updated; but at present emergency teams from across the full range of services thank local people for their patience and cooperation."

Cllr Karol McQuade urged people not to share video footage and to avoid the area. He said: "Aware of an incident in Lisnahull Dungannon where emergency services are currently attending. Please let emergency services do their job and stay clear of the area and avoid circulating video footage."

Cllr Barry Monteith added: "Major incident Newell Road/bottom of Lisnahull in Dungannon. Traffic being diverted. No specific details at the minute."
