Speaking to Belfast Live, Sean Doherty of Beechmount Residents Collective said: "Over the past number of months and weeks the BRC (Comhphobal Ard na bhFeá) have had concerns over excessive dog waste in Beechmount, Iveagh and beyond which has prompted us to take action on behalf of the Residents.

"Those so far who have engaged with us are calling on the council to increase dog waste bins and engage more with community groups to tackle this issue head on collectively to get these bin installed we want to invite the Belfast City council and councillors to take a walk round the areas affected, show them the hot spots and install much needed dog waste bins.

"The response to our awareness campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, with many responsible dog owners thanking us for addressing this health issue.

"Let's work together to keep our community clean and healthy!"
