Derry shopping centre and supermarket opening times for last-minute Christmas shopping

With just a few days left before Santa Clause arrives, shoppers in Derry are making a final dash to secure those last-minute gifts and festive essentials.

As the big day approaches, Belfast Live has put together a list of the extended opening hours offered by the big retailers to accommodate the holiday rush.

We have the times for all the big shopping centres and even supermarkets here to help you make the most of the crucial final days before the celebrations begin.

Foyleside Shopping Centre

Foyleside is open from 9-10pm on December on December 19 and 20th. It will be open from 9am until 7pm on Saturday on the longest day of the year, Saturday, December 21, and from 9-6pm on December 22. On the day before Christmas Eve, December 23, the opening times are 9-10pm. The centre remains open from 9am to 6pm for some last, last minute shopping on Christmas Eve.On St Stephen's Day, December 26, the shopping centre will be open from 10am to 6pm for those hoping to find a bargain. On December 27, the times are 9-9pm. On Saturday, December 28, it's 9-7pm and on the Sunday, December 29, it's 1-6pm.

Richmond Centre

The Richmond Centre is open from 9-10pm on Thursday, December 19 and Friday, December 20. On Saturday, December 21, the shopping centre opens at the usual time of 9am and closes at 7pm. On Sunday, December 22, the Richmond Centre opens at 10am and shuts at 6pm. The day before Christmas Eve, December 23, sees the Richmond Centre opening from 9am to 10pm. Extremely late Christmas shoppers can still go to the Richmond Centre from 9am to 5pm on Christmas Eve. The centre reopens on Boxing Day from 10am to 5pm. Friday, December 27 sees 9am to 9pm opening hours, followed by 9am to 6pm opening hours on December 28, and 1pm to 6pm opening times on Sunday, December 29.

Lidl

The Lidl on the Buncrana Road - as across all its Northern Ireland stores - will be open from 8am to 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday [December 19, 20, and 21), with 7am to 10pm opening times on December 22 and 23. It will be open from 1pm to 6pm on Christmas Eve and shut on both Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day. The store will follow the usual 8am to 10pm pattern on December 27-30.

Tesco

Tesco in Lisnagelvin will be open at the usual times, apart from Christmas Eve with 1pm to 6pm opening times. It's shut on Christmas Day, and open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day. The Tesco Express on the Crescent Link will open from 7am to 7pm on Christmas Eve and shut on Christmas Day, with 9am to 6pm opening hours on Boxing Day. The Tesco in Quayside on the Strand Road will open from 1pm to 6pm on Christmas Eve, and shut on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Sainsbury's

The Sainsbury's supermarket on the Strand Road will stay open from 6am until 11pm each night, apart from Sunday (December 21) when it follows the usual 1pm to 6pm hours. On Christmas Eve the shop shuts early at 7pm and it stays closed on Christmas Day. Sainsbury's Boxing Day open times are 9am to 6pm.
