Actress Louisa Harland, best known for playing Orla McCool in Derry Girls, has secured a leading role in the TV adaptation of Marian Keyes' The Walsh Sisters. Currently in production, the first season is based on Keyes' bestselling novels Rachel's Holiday and Anybody Out There.

Set in Dublin, the RTÉ series follows the lives of the chaotic yet loving Walsh family, comprising five sisters - Anna, Rachel, Maggie, Claire, and Helen - their mother, and their bemused father. Louisa Harland is set to play Anna Walsh, while rising star Caroline Menton will portray Rachel.

The cast also includes Danielle Galligan as eldest sister Claire, Máiréad Tyers as the youngest sister Helen, and Stefanie Preissner as Maggie. On her new role, Louisa expressed her delight, saying, "Couldn't be happier to be part of the Walsh family. These books mean so much to so many. It's the dream job."

Caroline also shared her excitement, stating, "I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of The Walsh Sisters. Rachel is such a beloved character that has resonated with me and countless others around the world for nearly two decades."

The cast is completed by Aidan Quinn as the father, Carrie Crowley as Mammy Walsh, and American actress Debi Mazar as Chaquie, reports the Irish Mirror.

The cast also features Gina Moxley, known for her role in The Patient Gloria, who will portray Josephine, and Jay Duffy of Northern Lights fame, who will take on the role of Rachel's complex love interest, Luke Costello.
