In addition, Olwen May from Happy Valley has signed onto the show, while Barry Sloane reprises his role as Chris Fischer. Georgia Scholes will play Chris' daughter Erin, with David Carpenter and Emme Hayes returning as Jenn's children Conor and Maddie.

The plot for the fifth series of The Bay revolves around the mysterious death of 23-year-old university student Hannah. Found dead at the docks, the Morecambe MIU team must navigate another complex case, reports Lancs Live.

Jenn, still grappling with the loss of her father, sets aside her personal grief to assist Hannah's deeply divided family. As tensions escalate within the student community, Jenn and her team delve deeper into the investigation, unearthing hidden friendships and clandestine liaisons.

"As the intensity increases and the team peel back the complicated layers of Hannah's life and the secrets within it, Jenn must reconcile her personal and professional struggles as she grapples to solve the case, come to terms with her own loss, and build bridges with her family," the synopsis reads.
