Delta Air Lines is expanding its operations in Austin, Texas, with five new nonstop routes set to launch in 2025. The move reflects Delta's commitment to serving the growing demand for travel options in the rapidly expanding tech hub of Austin. Beginning in March 2025, the airline will offer daily flights from Austin to Panama City, Fla., Indianapolis, Memphis, San Francisco, and Tampa.
With these additions, Delta aims to solidify its position as the airline of choice for both business and leisure travelers in Austin, offering more travel options than ever before. Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning, expressed the company’s dedication to Austin, highlighting its plans for 55 peak-day departures by summer 2025. This expansion comes on the heels of a 20% increase in seat capacity earlier this year, providing greater connectivity to both domestic and international destinations.
“Delta has made its commitment to Austin known, and these new routes and the 55 peak-day departures planned for summer 2025 reaffirm that,” Esposito said. “This is on top of the already 20% seat capacity increase we put into service in April connecting Austin to new destinations in major corporate and leisure markets both within Texas and outside the state — onward throughout our global network.”
March Launches: Nonstop to Panama City, Fla.
Delta’s new nonstop service from Austin to Panama City, Fla., will begin on March 9, 2025, just in time for spring break. The daily flight, operated by Delta’s regional partner SkyWest Airlines, will use an Embraer ERJ-175 aircraft equipped with First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating options. Panama City, known for its stunning white-sand beaches along the Florida Panhandle, is a popular destination for leisure travelers, particularly during the spring and summer seasons.
In addition to Panama City, Delta will also begin its previously announced service from Austin to New Orleans on Feb. 27, 2025, offering customers easy access to the city’s famous Mardi Gras celebrations.
May and June Expansions: Business Travel and Bicoastal Connections
On May 7, 2025, Delta will introduce new nonstop routes to Memphis and Indianapolis. The Austin-Memphis route will be the only nonstop service between the two cities, offering convenient access to Memphis’s rich musical heritage, including Beale Street and Graceland, as well as its growing business scene. The Indianapolis route will cater to both business and leisure travelers, providing easy connections for tech and corporate clients. Both of these routes will be operated using the Embraer ERJ-175 aircraft.
Delta’s expansion continues in June with new nonstop service from Austin to San Francisco and Tampa. The Austin-San Francisco route, launching on June 8, 2025, will link two major tech hubs, allowing for greater collaboration between businesses in both cities. The Tampa route, launching on the same day, will offer travelers more ways to access Florida’s Gulf Coast and its growing business opportunities.
These daily flights to San Francisco and Tampa will be operated using Delta’s Airbus A220-300, a state-of-the-art aircraft that features large windows, expanded overhead bins, and 50% fewer middle seats due to its 2x3 seating configuration. Passengers will also benefit from in-flight entertainment, including seatback screens with access to over 1,000 hours of content, as well as free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members.
Connecting Austin to Global Destinations
Delta’s expansion in Austin further positions the city as a key gateway to both domestic and international destinations. With nonstop flights to all of Delta’s major hubs, Austin travelers are just one connection away from reaching cities across the globe, including in Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Scott Santoro, Delta’s vice president of sales, emphasized the airline’s focus on meeting the needs of Austin’s growing business community. “We continue to listen and respond to what Austin needs as it grows, and we have a dedicated corporate sales team at the ready to get all customers to, from and through this crucial tech and business destination,” Santoro said.
As Delta continues to expand its presence in Austin, travelers can look forward to more options, greater connectivity, and enhanced travel experiences in 2025.
