The Cyber University of Korea (CUK), an online university established in 2001, started recruiting new and transfer students for the first semester of the 2025 academic year on Dec. 1.

Notably, employees of industrial and public institutions are subject to tuition reduction benefits through the Industrial Entrustment Screening, and those who work at agreed institutions are automatically eligible for benefits.

The university, along with Korea University, is a four-year higher education institution affiliated with the Korea University Foundation and is the first cyber university in the country.

It also provides a 20-percent reduction in tuition fees through a scholarship system newly established for residents of Jongno District and Seongbuk District, where the university campus is located.

CUK students can enjoy the benefits of being affiliated with Korea University.

For instance, major facilities such as Korea University’s library, medical center, wedding hall and funeral hall are available to CUK students.

Meanwhile, CUK is establishing an educational environment optimized for adult learners who need to juggle their studies and work life.

Park Hwa-young, a student at the school’s Department of Architectural Engineering said, "Thanks to the entirely online lectures, students can learn free from constraints on time and place. I am very satisfied because I can flexibly handle attendance, assignments and exams even after work."

Cho Jin-wook, a CUK student in the Department of Mechanical Control Engineering said, "I entered CUK because I desperately needed theoretical knowledge while taking on tasks in different fields from my existing major at the company," adding that the industrial consignment scholarship helped him lift his financial burden.

CUK has also introduced new majors.

The Department of Architectural Engineering presents a new paradigm of online engineering education in line with growing interest in sustainable architecture and indoor environments.

The computer engineering department fosters professionals who will lead the future intelligent information society with a curriculum specialized in artificial intelligence, autonomous driving and robot systems, which are core technologies in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.
