WASHINGTON — Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish a fire at a restaurant in Georgetown early Friday morning.
DC Fire and EMS crews were initially called to the 3200 block of Grace Street Northwest for a fire alarm around 3:30 a.m.
Vito Maggiolo, public information officer for the fire department, said that when crews arrived on scene they found smoke coming from all levels of the four-story building, with a restaurant on the first floor and apartments above.
Firefighters worked to find the location of the fire, while making sure the residents in the apartments were safe, Maggiolo said. The fire was eventually located in the restaurant's kitchen.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire, but remain on scene.
Maggiolo said residents in the building's apartments were asked to shelter in place while crews attacked the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.
