Coronation Street is full of explosive scenes next week as Theo Silverton's secret is exposed.
Soap fans will recall that scaffolder Theo, played by James Cartwright, joined the ITV soap earlier this month and soon had an instant attraction with Todd Grimshaw.
The actor teased the character as a "good guy," who "comes in with the best of intentions," but cautioned that Theo's actions "may upset some people with his behaviour".
And it appears in upcoming scenes next week, Theo's behaviour does indeed upset Todd as he discovers his secret. Only recently, Theo insisted that he isn't gay and asked Todd to leave him alone.
However, Todd was later confused to see the guy he had been chatting to on a dating app was none other than Theo. In scenes this week, having arranged to meet Todd, Theo admits he finds him attractive to which the two kiss passionately before heading upstairs.
Having spent the afternoon in bed, Todd and Theo are loved up. However, Theo, who admits his life is complicated, later leaves Todd heartbroken as he insists that the day was a one off.
Next week sees the fallout of Theo's behaviour as he approaches Todd on the street and after apologising for his cold actions, admits he really likes him, to which Todd invites him back.
However, later, Todd is surprised when Theo arrives at Shuttleworths to arrange a funeral and is stunned by what he discovers.
Back at home, Todd tells Billy Mayhew about his discovery to which Billy advises him to steer well clear. Later, Billy is angry when Theo knocks on the back door.
As the week comes to an end, Theo begs an offended and angry Todd not to cause a scene at his mother-in-law's funeral. What is Theo hiding and who is his mother-in-law?
It comes as actor James, 40, who plays Theo, said of his character: "I had a line the other day where I said 'I think I left my trousers in the bedroom' so make of that what you will."
Talking about landing the role, he added: "I was very excited, a lot of my memories growing up as a young boy were settling down with my gran after tea, she’d make me a crumpet and we’d sit there and watch Corrie. I feel like it’s a great honour to be a part of something that’s brought joy to people for so long."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
