Coronation Street's Will Mellor opened up about his future career moves and what genuinely scares him during a TV appearance on Saturday morning.
The actor, known for his role as the menacing Harvey Gaskell in the ITV soap, joined James Martin on his show Saturday Morning, alongside fellow actor Ralf Little from The Royle Family.
The duo, who previously starred together in the popular BBC sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, have since started their own podcast during the lockdown period and shared with viewers that they're now taking the the show on a live tour across the UK.
While chatting with the renowned chef and host James Martin, they divulged details about their podcast, which they promote on social media as "just two guys having a couple of pints and a chat in a pub".
James was eager to delve into their beginnings in the challenging world of acting and how they've managed to forge successful careers, reports Plymouth Live.
Hailing from Greater Manchester, Will reminisced about his childhood as the youngest of five siblings, harbouring a lifelong ambition to act. He revealed: "It was always something I dreamt of doing for as long as I remember. I always wanted to be a performer."
He recounted how an acting agency once opened its doors to "street kids", offering opportunities to a diverse range of aspiring actors. Will recalled his experience, saying: "They liked what I did and I got in."
The 48-year-old shot to fame in 1990 as Ben Rowlingson on Children's Ward and became more widely known for his role as James "Jambo" Bolton in Hollyoaks, cementing his place in the entertainment industry.
Since then, he's graced our screens in multiple hit dramas, including EastEnders and Broadchurch. Notably, last year, he drew attention for his acclaimed role as sub-postmaster Lee Castleton in ITV's Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which delved into the infamous British Post Office scandal.
He remains an advocate, passionately seeking justice for those entwined in the controversy and continues to voice this commitment publicly.
Despite a rich career history, the father-of-two confesses that the job's unpredictable nature still fills him with trepidation at times.
In conversation with James, he shared: "What I love about my job is something that terrifies me - the uncertainty of it. You never know what tomorrow is going to bring, you never know what the next job is going to be."
Will, along with Ralf, has enjoyed success with their podcast venture, embarking on live tours that have only heightened their enthusiasm for future shows.
Ralf enthused: "Going out on tour again is very exciting. We had such a blast last time, can't wait to meet everyone again and see all your lovely faces."
Echoing his sentiment, Will added: "I loved the buzz of being on tour last time so can't wait to have loads of banter with everyone again."
