Coronation Street viewers are convinced that the soap has unveiled the true identity of Betsy Swain's biological father.
The mischievous character, portrayed by Sydney Martin, arrived on the scene last year as the offspring of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). It was disclosed that Lisa's spouse and Betsy's mother, Becky, had tragically passed away while on duty.
Betsy quickly found herself at the centre of several major plotlines in the soap. Earlier this year, she was devastated when her boyfriend Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) met a tragic end.
Her grief was compounded last week when she discovered she was being stalked by convicted murderer Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss). Fans will remember that Rob returned to the soap earlier this year because his sister Carla Connor (Alison King) required a kidney transplant.
After undergoing the surgery, Rob, the villain, ended up fleeing, reports Plymouth Live. However, he came back to the cobbles last week and held his ex-lover Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) hostage at No. 1.
His health was visibly deteriorating as he bled from his surgical wound, but armed with a firearm, he demanded Tracy to summon Carla. Carla eventually showed up, and knowing he was on his deathbed, Rob revealed his plan was to force her to witness his death so that the memory would torment her indefinitely.
In a dramatic twist on the cobbles, Carla's partner DS Lisa Swain arrived just in time for a scuffle to ensue, resulting in a firearm being discharged. The unexpected outcome saw Betsy hit by the stray bullet while she was outside in the ginnel.
The extent of Betsy's injuries came to light in Wednesday's episode (March 26), following her dash to the hospital where she received urgent care. A medical professional confirmed that they had successfully extracted the bullet from her shoulder, but warned of possible "life-changing injury."
As the tension mounts on the street, viewers are convinced they've pieced together the identity of Betsy's real father – and they're pointing fingers at a notorious Corrie villain.
Fans have taken to social media to share their theories, with many suggesting that Robb's return isn't just about Carla's need for a kidney transplant; it could also hint at him being Betsy's biological dad.
