Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews, who plays the character Jenny Connor, recently surprised fans by revealing that her real-life brother had made an appearance on Come Dine With Me.
Sally first graced our screens as Jenny back in 1986 and has since become a stalwart of the ITV soap, involved in numerous high-profile storylines on the cobbles.
Currently, her character Jenny is oblivious to the cruel catfishing plot being orchestrated by her stepdaughter Daisy (played by Charlotte Jordan) and Daisy's mother Christina (portrayed by Amy Robbins).
However, it was the revelation that Sally's actual brother starred on Come Dine With Me last month - and even clinched victory - that left fans gobsmacked.
In March, the popular Channel 4 show gathered aspiring chefs from Birmingham to showcase their culinary prowess in a bid to win the £1,000 prize money, reports Leicestershire Live.
During an episode aired on March 18, project manager Tim played host to medical receptionist Fiona, health educational advisor Amanda, police administrator Danielle and caregiver Maggie.
Tim served up deconstructed devilled kettle eggs, wild cape hake parcel and 'a wall of brownie bricks' for his guests. However, it was during his dinner party that Tim revealed his connection to a well-known soap star.
He teased: "I have a famous sister." Dropping a hint, he added: "She's a redhead." He further hinted that she "pulls pints on ITV". His guests were eager for Tim to disclose his sister's identity.
And when it was confirmed that Sally was the person in question, Fiona was utterly astonished as she exclaimed: "Shut up!" In her direct address to the camera, she remarked: "I can't believe that Jenny from Coronation Street is Tim's sister!".
As the week progressed, it emerged that Tim had triumphed in the competition, tying for first place with Amanda.
It also came to light that his renowned sister Sally had been following his progress on Come Dine With Me throughout the week. She expressed her anticipation on her X account, posting: "It's been two years and I still don't know if my brother won #comedinewithme. Finale time! x".
A fan reached out to Sally, commenting: "Just watched tonight's, great scores for your Bro." Sally responded, disclosing that he had used her culinary creations for his evening: "I can't believe it! ! ! My recipes though x."
