Coronation Street viewers are speculating about the whereabouts of Dee-Dee Bailey's mum, Aggie.
This week on the cobbles, Dee-Dee (played by Channique Sterling-Brown) found herself in a life-threatening situation after giving birth to her baby. Despite expressing concerns about her health prior to labour, she was dismissed and sent home.
The drama escalated when Dee-Dee's waters broke and she was rushed to hospital, where she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and had to deliver her baby immediately. Post-birth, Dee-Dee continued to feel unwell, but her complaints were brushed off by a white nurse.
This same nurse tried to convince Dee-Dee to have skin-to-skin contact with her newborn. When Dee-Dee refused, she was labelled aggressive.
The situation took a dire turn when Dee-Dee fell unconscious shortly after the rest of the Bailey family arrived to visit her. It was then revealed that she was suffering from heavy bleeding - a symptom she had previously reported to the medical staff, reports Plymouth Live.
Following an emergency operation due to a haemorrhage, it was disclosed that Dee-Dee had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy to save her life, meaning she will not be able to bear children in the future.
However, amidst Dee-Dee's ongoing ordeal, fans are questioning the absence of her mother Aggie (portrayed by Lorna Laidlaw). Aggie was introduced to the soap in 2019 as part of the Bailey family - Coronation Street's first regular Black family.
Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads after Aggie Bailey, played by Lorna Laidlaw, vanished from the cobbles in June 2023. The storyline briefly mentioned that she went to Birmingham to look after her unwell aunty, but since then, there's been radio silence about her character, especially odd given her daughter Dee-Dee's pregnancy and recent childbirth.
Fans have taken to a Coronation Street Facebook fan group to air their suspicions, with some theorising that Aggie's husband Ed (portrayed by Trevor Michael Georges) might be behind her disappearance.
One viewer expressed frustration, saying, "Where's her mother Aggie? She only went Birmingham!" while another pointed out, "You would think her mom would have come to see her or at least be mentioned."
A more sinister suggestion came from a third fan: "What if all along Ed had murdered her and that's why she's not been mentioned or heard from since..." This theory gained traction among the community, with another adding, "I did think something was odd! You could be onto something."
Meanwhile, a fifth commenter recalled, "Didn't he leave to go see her and come back and tell everyone they had split? Very suspicious."
