Conor McGregor is facing a new lawsuit, with allegations of sexually assaulting a woman at a basketball game in 2023.
The lawsuit was lodged in Florida on Tuesday, with an anonymous woman claiming that the UFC star assaulted her in a VIP bathroom at the Kaseya Centre on June 9.
McGregor was present for the NBA Finals match between Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets. The woman alleges that McGregor led her to a private bathroom before initiating his alleged attack.
A report was filed with City of Miami Police, but criminal charges were dismissed. McGregor refutes the claims. His lawyer, Barbara Llanes, issued a statement to ESPN after the civil lawsuit was filed.
It read: "After a thorough investigation at the time, the State's Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue.
"We are confident that this case too will be dismissed."
Along with McGregor, the case named the Kaseya Centre and Miami Heat as defendants, alleging they overserved the 36-year-old.
McGregor is accused of leading the woman to an arena bathroom, where the suit alleges he “attempted to forcefully place his unprotected penis into Jane Doe’s mouth without her consent.”
It is then alleged the woman attempted to escape before McGregor slammed her into a wall and put her in an arm lock.
James Dunn, the lawyer for the woman told Front Office Sports: “After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to pursue criminal charges, a civil case is the only avenue that my client has to seek justice in this case.
“My client has thought long and hard about the decision to pursue this civil case, and is fearful of the effect it may have on her job on Wall Street.”
She is seeking past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages exceeding $75,000, litigation costs, and other relief.
This legal action in the US follows just two months after McGregor was deemed responsible for assaulting Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018, with the jury awarding her £200,000 in damages.
