Conlig stabbing incident leads to two arrests

Police investigating a stabbing incident in North Down have arrested two men.

One of the pair has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, the PSNI said in a statement issued on Saturday morning.

The stabbing happened in Conlig on Tuesday, January 7.

Detective Sergeant Cargin said: “Our investigation into the incident, in which a man sustained a number of stab wounds at a property in the Breezemount Close area of Conlig last Tuesday, has been progressing rapidly and has now resulted in the arrest of a 38 year old man on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and a 34 year old woman on suspicion of assisting offenders.

“Both were arrested at an address in Bangor on Friday 10th January and currently remain in police custody. Our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with information that could assist us to phone 101 quoting reference number 182 07/01/25.

A 54-year-old man was charged with assisting offenders and appeared before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Friday, January 10) in relation to the incident and has been remanded in custody at Maghaberry.
