A family in Co Down has been left in shock after their grandad's house was destroyed in a fire this week.
Ciara Roberts said her grandad Terry Roberts from Downpatrick, who would usually dress up as Santa and put on a Christmas lights display at his home for the area, has been unable to do so this year due to a fire at the property earlier this week.
The 77-year-old's home, that he has lived in for over 50 years and raised his four children in, has been destroyed with the property "not liveable." Required repairs include a new roof, kitchen, rewiring, and new furniture throughout.

Ciara said: "On Thursday, 28th November my granda was met with an electric fire in his house he has lived in for over 50 years.
"On a personal level I hold so many fond memories of my Granda prancing around dressed as Santa around this time of year, brightening the whole street up year on year with his Christmas lights! This year, he can't even put up a tree.
"To have this happen at all is absolutely devastating but this time of year really hits home. Sentimental photos ruined, which no amount of money can return, but the fact my Granda made it out alive is the silver lining."
Ciara has started a fundraising page to help with repairs on the much-loved house, with a target of £20,000. So far, just over £1,000 has been raised towards this goal.
Recounting the damage caused by the blaze, she added: "In terms of the damage, the house is not liveable.
"A new roof is required throughout the bungalow, new kitchen, whole house will need rewiring and new furniture needed throughout. It’s a shell of a home which my Granda has worked so hard for.
"As a family I would like to thank the neighbours and any of the volunteers that have helped look after my Granda and salvage what remains could be gathered from the dust! A real sense of community has been shown and we are entirely grateful!
"Appreciate its a lot to ask, so close to Christmas and everyone is finding it difficult. However any assistance in raising any amount of funds to restore my Granda’s home, we would be so appreciative! Our hearts are broken."
