Claudia Winkleman has dished out some titbits about the latest season of BBC reality show The Traitors.

Hosting duties resume for Strictly's Claudia next month as she welcomes a fresh batch of contestants to a majestic castle nestled in the Scottish Highlands. Here, they'll delve into a riveting game teeming with duplicity, betrayal, and the quest for a hefty £120,000 prize.

Yet lurking within the group are the Traitors, stealthily plotting to 'murder' their comrades without raising suspicion. Meanwhile, the Faithful must suss out these deceivers and exile them to avoid meeting an untimely 'death'.

For the ultimate survivors, a fortune awaits, but if a Traitor eludes exposure, they flee with the lot. As we approach this new series, the excitement is tangible - but who will emerge victorious?

When pressed about the third instalment, Claudia teased: "I would love to tell you all about series three, but then I will get fired so I can tell you absolutely nothing. What I will tell you is that things are different this year.", reports the Daily Record.

She hinted at unexpected twists, saying, "There are some really exciting things that have changed, which keeps everyone on the toes and feeds into the central premise of trust! I can't wait for everyone to see."

Despite participants having the advantage of viewing past seasons to strategize, Claudia revealed her belief that such foreknowledge hardly alters the outcomes.

The TV star is returning to the Scottish Highlands with some new faces

She elaborated: "The new contestants can watch previous series, but that doesn't mean it will necessarily help them... How can it? Every series has a whole new bunch of players, with different minds, and different interpretations of the game."

"And like any good murder mystery, the plot is always full of twists and turns. There's one twist this year which will hopefully have viewers on the edge of their seat."

Last year's victor, Traitor Harry Clark, clinched the title in the second series after masterfully deceiving his mate Mollie Pearce by feigning loyalty as a Faithful, ultimately pocketing a hefty £95k prize.

The Traitors starts New Years Day at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer
