LAUDERHILL — A precautionary boil-water advisory in place in Lauderhill since Thursday has been lifted, the city announced Sunday.

“Water samples indicate the water is safe to drink. There is no need to boil your water,” the city stated in a press release issued Sunday afternoon.

The advisory was issued Thursday after repairs were needed due to a failed water valve. Lauderhill residents and businesses had little to no water pressure Thursday afternoon due to the issue, the city announced on social media.

“The City of Lauderhill Utility Department is aware residents and businesses are experiencing low to no water pressure citywide,” the city said in a statement at 11:45 a.m. Thursday. “The staff is working on restoring full service expeditiously and believes the problem will soon be resolved.”

Water began flowing again about 2 p.m.

The city said Thursday that the lack of water pressure was caused by “an unexpected water valve failure” during a scheduled repair.

The lack of water pressure also affected Lauderhill schools Thursday afternoon, Broward school district spokesperson John Sullivan said in a tweet that day.
