Citibank Korea said Thursday that it won the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) governor's award in the outstanding financial institution and outstanding employee categories, recognized for its excellence in financial education.

The award follows Citi's active participation in the "One Company One School Financial Education" program.

The FSS-operated program partners financial institutions with elementary, middle and high schools to provide students with diverse financial education opportunities.

Citibank Korea was the only bank to receive the FSS governor's award this year. This marks Citi's second consecutive year of being honored with this prestigious recognition.

The bank was highly praised for its structured and efficient approach to financial education, offering not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on learning experiences applicable to real-world financial scenarios.

Covering a wide range of topics — including budget planning, responsible spending and saving habits, entrepreneurship, trade and exchange rates — the bank actively integrates interactive learning methods such as business simulation activities, board games and tablet-based lessons to enhance students' financial literacy.

Employees also directly participated as financial education volunteers, helping strengthen its sustainability and impact.

In collaboration with its long-standing partners, the National Young Women's Christian Association of Korea and Junior Achievement Korea, Citibank Korea has expanded access to financial education nationwide. The bank systematically operates education programs in underserved areas and continues to broaden its tailored programs for financially vulnerable groups.

Beneficiaries include multicultural and single-parent families, slow-learning young adults with borderline intellectual functioning and self-reliant youths. These programs have helped participants build essential financial habits and move toward economic independence, it said.

"We remain committed to empowering future generations with financial literacy and supporting the economic independence of underserved communities," Citibank Korea CEO Yoo Myung-soon said.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to expand structured and sustainable financial education programs, fully embracing our role as a corporate citizen and fulfilling our broader social responsibilities."
